Yeah it’s definitely half battle shounen. But “battle shounen” is a genre, while “shounen” does not appear to be a genre. It’s just the groupings by age and gender (at least according to OP) or publication (according to you). But they’re only decided by the company that prints them, and determined before the actual fanbase is found, and don’t change according to reception.
Doesn’t seem very meaningful or useful for us fans. I always thought it was a description, but it just seems to be an origin. The genre names based on/inspired by it seem fine, like “battle shounen” because the fans have the final say if it is or isn’t. Even if the companies are always right, I’d rather not let them have the final say in our categorizations.
The reason Frieren is classified as shounen is because the manga is serialized in Weekly Shounen Sunday.
Today I learned the “shounen” label is useless for categorization lol. Sounds like “Netflix show” or “Amazon Prime show” lol

I think Frieren is best suited for people 30+, and plenty of women love the show too. I don’t think it’d be unreasonable to suggest it’s not locked into a single demographic, even if the publisher didn’t expect it. Do we still count it if the publisher was wrong? Or maybe I’m just trying to turn this label into something actually useful lol.

I’m here to 2nd Frieren. It starts slow just slice of life with tons of emotions. Eventually you realize it can be badass when it wants to be, then it goes back to being super wholesome lol. My favorite show ever, 11/10

The movie was released March 30, 2013, but the manga didn’t start until June 24, 2016.

And it appears to be an adaptation of the movie, not the other way around. In this case I guess you could say neither the anime nor the manga (nor the promotional manga) is the “original”, the movie is the original.

There was again a promotional manga, but it was an adaptation of the movie, and it did not even show the ending. So again here the movie is the “original”. And then the DBS manga series skipped this saga.

The Universe 6 Saga ended May 1, 2016 in the anime, and June 21, 2016 in the manga, so the anime was ahead by the end of the saga. This is probably the saga that most needs the remaster, since it looked rough and had no movie.

In the Future Trunks Saga, the anime both starts and ends before the manga. The anime goes from June 12, 2016 to January 15, 2017, and the manga goes from July 21, 2016 to July 18, 2017.

There can be security issues though. And I think it sounds like it won’t be growing from here, for social media that means it probably won’t take long to shrink a lot. If the current feature set and UX didn’t attract a huge userbase, then keeping it the same certainly won’t help.
