Kryptos is an end-to-end encryption app for iOS and Android that works through any messenger or SMS. You encrypt a message inside Kryptos (or on its keyboard), paste the resulting code into WhatsApp / Telegram / iMessage / Signal / VK / SMS / anything, and your correspondent decrypts it with Kryptos on their side. The messenger only ever carries what looks like random noise — the plaintext never touches it.
It’s probably just nostalgia, but honestly it never hurts to have more choice.
We have too many companies that keep consolidating and leaving users with little or no alternative for products and or software.
HAProxy seems like it’s always overlooked. I have been using it for years myself, pretty solid and just works.
If you run pfSense you can also use HAProxy with a GUI.
I just run my own internet now, completely restricted to my own hosted websites and services. With hookers and blackjack.

GrapheneOS has a built in network “Kill Switch” for each app individually on your phone.
As soon as a app is installed it you are prompted to grant network access to the app, you can also choose to restrict it after the fact as well.
There are also some other apps on Android that do the same that I have come across, but I have gotten pretty used to what GrapheneOS offers me now built in.
This is useful for restricting network access for keyboard, galary, game, or emulator apps for example.

Upload your photo backups to your own server. You can also use a app like FolderSync to just upload your photos from your phone to your PC or a home NAS.
I have been slowly getting rid of my dependency on cloud services, things like contacts and calendar are a good way to slowly start.

No worries, not sure how I misunderstood the question, but hopefully it helps someone else out who’s getting into self-hosting.
When you host something on LAN only you are not exposing the service to the wider internet directly.
This means someone would need access to your LAN or local area network first (such as your WiFi password) before being able to reach said service.
Now when you expose something directly to the internet, in a way that for example it displays a publicly accessible webpage, it makes it easier for anyone to reach that webpage, and potentially figure out your login and password information through brute force. Or some other type of exploit that allows full bypass of the login credentials.
Some self-hoster’s choose to keep their “more sensitive” services on the LAN only, and then use a VPN (that’s hosted privately) to access their LAN remotely from anywhere in the world.
With a VPN hosted on your LAN it provides a good layer of security as someone would first need to have access to your VPN to then potentially try and get access into your services.
So the head unit has to be running “full android” independently, with the app installed somehow either sideloaded or through the play store?
I guess a wireless or wired android auto connection would not propagate this to your head unit, if for example it was your phone that was infected.

Most of this tech is way to intrusive, and a good chunk of drivers have become to reliant on it in some cases.
Hell, I know people that have no idea how to reverse a car if it does not have a rear view camera. Completely forgot how mirror functioned, and this goes for both older folks and the younger drivers.

But to be clear your downloads folder should ideally have subdirectories in it, or at least that’s what I have.
*Completed Downloads", with subdirectories for movies, series, audio, books, blackhole_movies, blackhole_series, and any other category you have.
In your download client you then make sure to set it up that all downloads get a category that then dumps the completed download into the corresponding folder.
So when a movie gets added by radarr its assigned a category of movies in your download client, and when it finishes downloading it goes to the completed/movies folder. And similar if a series gets added by sonarr a category of series gets assigned and moved to the completed/series folder.
Any torrent you add manually you would then assign either blackhole movies or series and your download client would then move it to that completed folder. Radarr would then see new files appear and try and import them as it regularly will now scan that blackhole folder.
What you are looking for is under Settings > Download Clients > Torrent Blackhole
This helps create a “blackhole” folder that is now monitored for any completed files. Radar or Sonarr will then try and import these files if the naming matches anything in your library that’s missing.
So in theory you can manually add torrents to your client which you can categorize in such a way that they move to this blackhole folder on completion.
Obviously the folder or category can be called anything, but I just call them blackhole_movies, blackhole_series.

Also look into private space, this allows you to run a “sub profile” in your main profile where you could install your already sandboxed Google play service as needed.
There are 3 main kinds of profiles:
Each have their own apps, app data, profile data including a home directory, their own disk encryption keys and their own VPN configuration.
Private Spaces and work profiles are similar to a user but nested inside of another user for actually usage them.
