Seeing Meta release a new product and being crazy successful literally makes me sick. People say no one leaves Facebook because of the “network effect” but then a new product launches with no network at all and people are swarming to it. They just honestly don’t give a single fuck about all the horrendous shit these companies do.

Not sure what you’re asking here. If you’re looking for a starting point for some research, here’s a few things:
- Use a browser with an ad blocker
- Use a VPN from Proton, Mullvad or Windscribe
- Use email aliases
- Get as far away from datamining platforms like Google and Meta as you can. Ideally delete them both completely.
- Use private and free operating systems like Linux and GrapheneOS.
That should be enough to get you started.

I think it’s regional. Often you’ll see “necessary only” which, who knows what they consider “necessary”. If you have a adblocker, there’s typically a list for “cookie annoyances” you need to enable for some reason. If that doesn’t work you can always use the element picker, although that sometimes breaks the site. If that happens I just leave.

I solved this problem years ago with email aliases.
Could mean a lot of things. Ideally there would be an account somehow connected and comments would be mirrored. Could have a link to sign into a guest’s account, like the many Mastodon frontends, and use that to comment.
