In my experience the self destructive instincts are internal. We certainly appreciate social support, I don’t think it could possibly be enough to counter these kinds of self destructive patterns, nor are they caused by a lack of support.
Before I transitioned, I had a worrying relationship with alcohol. Thankfully, I never developed alcoholism, but I reckon I got close. There were plenty of times I spent an evening with a bottle of whisky specifically to make myself feel bad, because at least it was feeling something. Starting on the hormones eliminated that self destructive urge almost immediately. I also stopped buying a big family size bag of candy and finishing it in an evening.
The urge to shave off all your skin comes from having hairs that are wrong and grew in the wrong place. I’m getting electrolysis so it’s being addressed albeit slowly. Hair growth that is bad and wrong happens during the wrong puberty and could have been avoided by getting on the hormones in my early teenage years.
Trans medicine is some of the most effective medicine in the entire field of medicine. If you want to do more I would recommend focusing on that. Do whatever is in your power to make sure that trans medicine is available to as many people as possible as early as possible. But also spread the word. Make sure you talk about trans people and transition. Make sure everyone knows transition is an option. To avoid the worst aspects of dysphoria young people need both access to medicine, and the knowledge to figure out they are trans in the first place. You can help with either one. That’s where I would recommend you focus if you want to do more.

I still see being apolitical as a virtue, but what Ed did was very political. Removing someone from your tour for their political statements is itself a political statement. He made an active choice to support the genocide.
The apolitical stance in the situation would be for him to stand with his collaborators, and cancel some of the shows if the billionaire stadium owner forces it. There’s still politics involved, Ed would not be the one doing the politics, only others around him.
Standing with your colleagues and not allowing others to have editorial control over your work is a principled stance that is apolitical. This stance would not have invited a major backlash against Ed, while maintaining neutrality.

No no no. Hi it’s me the parent commenter. I did not say that. There is reason to have both terms. Please don’t put words in my mouth.
That definition does exemplify my point about definitions reading as slander to bisexuals, as that definition does imply bisexuals are shallow, but that does not mean pansexuality isn’t a valid or useful term. The problem is trying to make a definition that is strict and draws a fine line between bisexuals and pansexuals. That cannot be done.
This is a grey area. Bisexuality is a diverse spectrum. The terms need to be a little fuzzy with some overlap. And that’s fine. The real world doesn’t fit neatly into the boxes we try to make for it.
Its good we have both the terms bisexual and pansexual. Its a very good thing we have words to communicate some of the many nuances that exist.

Every definition I have heard for pansexuality or similar that defines the term in contrast to bisexuality reads like slander to my ears.
Bisexuality is a broad category, and it was never exclusionary. Bisexuals can be attracted to trans people, and enbies, and those with or without gendered presentations, but critically they don’t have to be. Its a category not a checklist.
Bisexuality is broad. Other terms are more specific, and there is some amount of overlap.
As a trans woman, I am deeply opposed to the idea, implied by many definitions, that the only people who can find me attractive are those with a specific trans inclusive sexual orientation. Its both invalidating, and completely untrue in reality.

I digitally removed the grey grafitti from the bottom before posting, but that’s the same sign. I don’t use Instagram so I didn’t know it had been posted anywhere else.
How long ago was that posted?
Edit: The weather in their picture is overcast just like mine… I think we took this on the same day. Or maybe…
While I was passing by I saw the sign and thought it was funny so I stopped to take a picture. There were two people sat nearby. While I was taking the picture, one of them commented on the “no barking” text, seemingly made aware of the sign by my stopping for a photo. Did I inspire this post by chance?? Were they instagrammers?
Edit 2: probably a stretch its been overcast a lot recently.

Meta analysis is actually the best class of scientific evidence. A meta analysis looks at the totality of research on the subject. Because any single study can yield different results, scientists need to do many studies. Certainty in science comes from replication. If repeated studies show the same results, those results become more certain. If a new meta analysis confirms the result of an old meta analysis, it shows the results are likely to be accurate.
The new meta analysis included newer research. That conclusion is saying that the newer studies match the results of the old ones. That’s how science works. Nothing can be certain unless its replicable. Most science is like this. Papers are written by scientists for other scientists. Meta analysis from every field are exactly like this.
But any study like these looking for the general case. This analysis is making limited claims with strong certainty. This study is saying that, with a great deal of certainty, CBT has a small to medium effect on most people, but not all of those who get it.
There are many problems in medicine. You have encountered many of them.
Its clear CBT didn’t work for you, but that in no way means that the science is wrong, or that meta analysis, as a concept, are bad science.
The drugs that you are taking were studied in exactly the same way. There are analycies and meta analycies on their effects that will sound just as pointlessly reduntant as the one you looked at. That is the process.

I remember a you just got owned website, where you could type someone’s name as the subdomain and it would show a slideshow of people about to be seriously injured with an arrow and label. I wonder if that site still exists.

The numbers aren’t random. They are sequential. The early digits are assigned geographically, but the rest are in sequence. If you know a valid social security number, adding or subtracting 1 will be another valid social security number, most likely someone born in the same hospital on the same day.
They did change it somewhat recently, but they don’t re-assign the numbers when making that change, so most of the numbers are completely insecure.

Oh that is concerning. I’ll try it, but hearing that I’ll probably stay with version 3.7, or switch to Tenacity if it adds realtime effects.
Muscore 3 is only archaic according to the lead developer of Musescore 4, and he is rather biased. In my experience it completely broke my workflow and supposedly added a new playback engine that doesn’t seem to exist.

A few resources,
Deflock.org has a map based on openstreetmap that shows the positions of ALPR cameras. I would highly encourage you to contribute if you find any unlisted cameras.
Dontgetflocked.com is a website for routing. It can generate navigation routes that avoid, or limit exposure to the cameras listed on deflock.org.
All of these are specific to the US and Canada. Other countries may have ALPR installations, but they are not listed on deflock.
Edit: deflock has a toggle switch for Canada. Only two countries.

That’s how AI testers work and its why they don’t. Most forms of formal writing are predictable by design. If the AI can predict predictable formulaic writing, it doesn’t mean its AI, its probably just any form of professional writing other than fiction.
Famous public domain works will always be considered AI by those tests, because of course your LLM knows the american national constitution. It was in the training data, so it can predict it with 100% accuracy, therefore your test wrongly calls it AI.
Testing for AI writing that way does not work.
I write the words, “attached to this email” to make sure I don’t accidentally attach anything. Many email clients confirm you have no attachments if you write that. Useful little trick!
