Eh, it’s fine. That’s what I do with 4 GB RAM as well. However even though I set 8 GB swap on that machine I noticed it’s hardly using the half of it at most. (Using Void Linux)

Since when rooting counts as a new OS?
Can you unlock the bootloader? No? Then you cannot install a new OS.
By the way, why cannot we see them as a list?
Edit: It seems that website is for webOS only.

Every one of them on the market has a vendor-locked bootloader, so the answer is no. Best you can do is to use a mini PC or a RaspberryPi with Linux on it (there are alternative interfaces for TV).
You can also go with custom Android boxes that you can install ROMs.
So basically the best you can do is to use the smart TV as a monitor. Don’t let them connect to internet.

Yeah that looks suspicious.
It’s definitely not fool-proof, apparently they can bypass DNS for their connections too. On the other hand, IP block is a thing as well, so maybe it’s a double-edged sword for them.

Yeah, I guess that would work too.
It is a hassle but usually only done once or at least between some intervals. My RegExs were also a hassle though.

I don’t know about that part (though would like to know as well), this is currently blocked on my pi-hole:
including my custom RegExs. This surely helps but there are domains constantly pop-up every now and then, so it’s not fool-proof. -

Well, normies don’t usually care about privacy either, so those align. However some non tech-savvy people care about privacy, maybe these steps would be better for them in the short span before they are committed to Linux.

That’s a feature of Arch Linux though. If you don’t want that, there are bunch of distros you don’t need tweaking.

It was a selling point for Manjaro at some point but people really shouldn’t use AUR with it. That’s just an invitation to a disaster. I think Manjaro is stable if you don’t mix it with AUR. Used it for 6 years and the worst I remember was their Nvidia cataclysm, mostly it was fine.
Not sure if I would want to use cutting edge on mobile though. I tried PostmarketOS and Ubuntu Touch a couple years ago and Ubuntu Touch was actually daily drivable-ish. Really loved SXMO too, it’s a way different mobile experience.

Well, Manjaro popped up when a lot of people cannot install Arch on their own. Same thing with Ubuntu and Debian. Once a userbase formed, people follow suit I guess.

If you don’t count my 6 years with Manjarno, I’ve used Arch for ~7 years and only 3 times I had to fix something, 2 times because of Nvidia, once my fault. I had way more problems with Ubuntu in the past than Arch by the way. :)

As for tutorial I think Pi-hole’s own documentation suffice though if you mean starting from server installation, that’s another thing. Definitely not hard but it would be nice if you know Linux to be comfortable in terminal.

That tends to happen once in a while, usually because of Nvidia. One time happened because of GRUB update though I wasn’t affected that time since I was using systemd-boot. That’s not the reason I moved over to Void but gotta say I’m quite happy with the slower pace of rolling-release.

IMO it’s actually fine in series, not just anime, in general. There is a formula for each series that work for them. You watch the series if you like the formula.
On the other hand, I hate this for a lot of Hollywood films. A lot of them share the same formula, it’s not even fun to watch.
I won’t even try to reach One Piece, there is Detective Conan. Every episode is the same for 30 years yet they still make it and people still watch it. Why? Because the formula is good.
