The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is updating vehicle standards to make it easier and faster for driverless cars to deploy on public roads. It’s currently tweaking eight rules, including those requiring car parts that driverless cars don’t really need: brake pedals, windshield wipers, and rearview mirrors. But for now, years-old standards remain in place.
Beyond private companies using tax dollars to manage their special regulatory environment, privatize and monetize public roads, and test their unfinished and unregulated products on citizens, I expect these to be fully-equipped roving surveillance and oppression machines:

Each car can be covertly equipped with a suite of LPR or facial recognition cameras, sensors, and signals intelligence equipment.

Autonomous cars can patrol and surveil large areas to gather intelligence while acting as innocuous taxis.

Journalists, brown people, or pregnant woman making the mistake of entering one of these could simply be recognized and driven to a “detention” center for arrest.

Vehicles can autonomously work in tandem to hunt down and assault other vehicles, or serve as transport for domestic military operations, or blockade roads.

Service can be selectively denied to certain areas or social groups to curtail and manage movement during protests or events.
I mean, just use your imagination as to how an authoritarian federal government could collude with a Fascist tech CEO to leverage a large autonomous robo-taxi fleet set upon the population:

I would expect the Marxist-Leninist recommendation would be for such an institution to be founded by the state, and owned by the workers that created it. Instead, this would be a capitalist government using taxes on what little wealth the workers in a capitalist system have to sustain a failing business created by capital.
Why would an ML user support a capitalist bailout? Unless of course… the capitalism is coming from inside the Marxist-Leninist house! Ahhhhhhh!!

In this example, the allegations here stem from inappropriate contact with minors in the age range of 15 to 17 years in a NSFW Discord server.
The problem is that in cases such as this, they’re not children so much as not yet adults. “Teenagers” used to be the common parlance for this age group and they are particularly interested in sexuality, while not having the cognitive tools or maturity to recognize or protect themselves from actual adults that will sexually abuse them.
The major issue in conflating “children” with “teenagers” is that these are distinct developmental periods in which the latter will literally beg for sex from adults who should not be involved in it with them. This is why we moderate and protect the sexuality of this age group - to mitigate the bad decisions that result from an intensely hormonal developmental period paired with increased cognitive and social liberty.
Teenagers are horny, and as such they need additional protections from people like groomy 20-something game devs. But infantilization that seeks to erase teenage sexuality and autonomy does nothing to protect them.

The allegations stem from alleged interactions Ozzatron had with teenage minors in a NSFW Discord server. The project lacks the resources to handle requests for removal of contributor content.
The fallout came fast, as composer CD Music resigned, the Catalyst side-project got shelved, and planned content like Sunken Sea never surfaced. Then, Contributors started requesting their work be pulled from the mod entirely, and since Calamity no longer has enough developers to process each request, ending development became, as the team put it, “the closest thing we can do to fulfilling everybody’s requests.”
Ozzatron, meanwhile, holds sole ownership of the mod’s GitHub, and he’s reportedly gone quiet since, which leaves the project’s future genuinely uncertain.
Oh man, maybe people should stop buying these. I bet they totally won’t though.
