Gosho Aoyama Confirms He Has Already Written The Final Chapter Of Detective Conan | Otaku Mantra
Detective Conan mangaka Gosho Aoyama has revealed that he has already written the name, or storyboard, for the manga's final chapter.
Gosho Aoyama confirms he’s already drawn the storyboard for Detective Conan’s final chapter. After three decades, the ending exists on paper somewhere.
no way anyone new is getting into this… shit’s been going for over 30 years now, since 1994.
That’s 1140 chapters across 101+ manga volumes… That’s insanity.
I said that, as I then read it’s only the 21st longest running manga series… there are 20 others manga series longer than 100 volumes… nah…
I think you may be overestimating how vital it is to have read all prior chapters to enjoy the latest chapter. Especially Detective Conan where most chapters are standalone crime procedurals and you’ll pick up a good amount of the premise through cultural osmosis.
But also, think about it: if you’re a Japanese kid who starts buying Shounen Sunday (though nowadays they would probably use the app), most of the series in there are going have been running for a while, no matter when you start. You’re not going to just ignore the bulk of the magazine that you bought with a significant portion of your pocket money just because you haven’t read the earlier chapters.
Right, and the “only 21st longest” part is its own kind of insanity. But here is some good news for anyone starting now: the ending already exists on paper. Aoyama confirmed he finished the storyboard for the final chapter years ago, just in case. So those 1140 chapters are heading somewhere, we just don’t know when.
