How about we only allow them to operate plants in Europe if they form joint ventures with local companies and agree to some form of technology and knowledge transfer.
Volkswagen, Mercedes and others might have an idea how such a system could work from experience.
I’m out of the loop and can’t find much info? What joint ventures are notable? I don’t really consider Volkswagen or Mercedes as the good guys in any story.
Volkswagen sabotaged their emissions test and both are firmly in the “affordable EVs are an impossible task! oh woops, China is doing it? Can we ban them? No? Oh okay, I guess I’ll try” camp. Most car manufacturers are oil industry branches.

Sorry, VW is busy converting to make weapons to sell to Israel.
Why would anyone do that. They spent a fortune in R&D, VW spent it on executive compensation.
That’s what corporations had to do in order to sell their products in China. It seems only logical to force them to do the same in other markets.
As long as its European jobs being created and environmental and social regulations are obeyed like every other competitor does, why not?
so you expect them to hand over knowledge so they can let that knowledge fuel competition. You think BYD are idiots?
Where did I say to hand over knowledge? Do you mean like China forcing foreign companies into joint ventures with Chinese companies and transferring their intellectual property?
I figured that was just the communist heritage. Do they have a reputation for not sharing information? I thought the whole issue is that they just didn’t value IP.
