My suggestion is to just drop the phone*, like, really just do it

*or any other device u using (You should also not use it for at least 1 hour before going to bed, same for any screen and other strong lights in general)

I really can’t be left alone with my thoughts tbh

I have to have something playing in the background

The “sensible” answer is meditation, as you can reliably get your brain to shut up if you practice enough. On the other hand, it’s a hard habit to build if you have the very challenges it helps with. I know I certainly struggle with it

You can let it play music or sth and set sleep timer for it to turn off. The important part is no screen, I think

“not” Jessica is right but if you can’t manage that, something that works great for me is audio dramas!

more immersive than a podcast so it can hold my attention.

        my favorite is Midnight Burger!

highly recommend going in blind starting with episode one :)

echoing the other comment about meditation (and 4-7-8 breathing to calm yourself down); but in the interim, if you really must keep scrolling, you can put something like twilight on your phone and have it red-tint and darken your screen, which also helps a lot
