Search " software "click download, accept security warning, navigate to wherever your default download location is, double click installer, click your way through the installer (make sure do deselect whatever crapware it tries to package along with).
From there you click Firefox, then you click the download link it gives you on the next page, that downloads a file (still not installed) or takes you to an app store if you’re on a phone, you run that file or click install on the app store to actually install the application.

People still try to claim Linux is complicated and has a lot of unnecessary steps to install stuff and it just isn’t true for vast majority of people installing the vast majority of stuff.

And rm won’t work either, since you (probably) don’t have files named - and rf, and then it will complain that / is a directory. And even if we correct that, you forgot to pass –no-preserve-root.
Not wrong about OP, but also both major desktop environments on linux ship with “app stores” that are friendly to anyone familiar with a phone. So it’s still easier installing software on linux than searching for and downloading .msi and .exe files on the internet (and hoping the version of MSI afterburner you found is the real one).
I use Octopi generally, though the add/remove software app is prettier. If I have to install software via the command line I always have to double check the syntax. The command like version existing is extremely useful as a fallback though, and most (all?) gui package managers act as wrappers around the command line. So don’t dunk on the command line

You manage to install stuff on an iOS or Android phone as well, without downloading random files from random sites and then launching random installers, do you? You can do it thesame way on Linux.
The thing is, if you want to, you can also use the terminal. Many prefer it because you can be faster and the command is not rocket science. Which is fine too. Whatever you prefer.

Common users type into chatbots. They can 100% type the install commands. But also using the Bazaar or software center is super easy.

I find installing or running software from the cli is excellent for getting hints and clues to errors that the gui won’t show you.
