Maybe the real monetisation strategy is discovering exactly how uncomfortable readers can get before they stop visiting entirely.
I’m surprised Google hasn’t just turned reading the news online into a tiktok like feed experience where no one ever goes to the full article on a news site.
Reddit did that a decade or two ago. Most arguments about a posted news article are just fights over the headline
