the MEN WORKING signs we see online always feel like a euphemistic sign for a gay bar, cause its REALLY emphasizing that there are men in particular. big burly sweat-covered and muscular men, all congregated together no less.

Yes, an outdated version that is still in use in some states. The current national standard version says “ROAD WORK AHEAD.”
