after fiddling around with gradle all morning, i can kind of understand this. thankfully, android studio handled it all well enough for me.
(android studio is amazing. it kinda does things for you and magically fixes everything. truly amazing. i always hated java but now i love programming with it.)

oh btw, i was reading some legal texts yesterday (as a hobby) and it’s surprisingly easy to read for me. yes, it’s all convoluted language; but at least it’s precise and clear. no swampy vague language.
so it’s actually easier to digest than many small-talk conversations that i’ve had.

cern might be a bad example. cern was literally built because every nation on earth feared that it would be left behind on the development of even stronger nuclear physics shenanigans to make weapons out of it; and every country wanted to be “in” on the world-class research in this field. that’s why every country benefits from participation in CERN. this research was not paid because of “good-will”, but because of fear and military necessity.

uhh no, that’s technically not correct. google can not “restrict access to AOSP”. nobody can “restrict access” to an open source project. (at least not read/use access, if that’s what you’re talking about. they can exclude you from contributing your own code changes; for which case forks are the way to go)

Android is not open source. “Android Open Source Project (AOSP)” is open source, but that only makes about 90% of Android. The other 10% are where google shoves its proprietary crapware in. Spyware, adware, bloatware.

just 5 hours ago i got angry at android because it doesn’t allow me to disable Direct Share
the “direct share” is when it sends a message directly to a user, instead of click app -> select user.
the reason why i want to disable it is because i’m constantly afraid that i will send the wrong stuff to the wrong person. and they will get angry at me.
so i want to have it at least a 2-click step to send stuff to people.

i think the problem is not to make synthetic eggs. that should already be possible, at least in theory. you can take a normal egg cell and then replace the nucleus (that contains the DNA) with the nucleus from another cell. There: custom egg cell.
The problem is more, what comes next? The egg has to grow in a biological woman; i’m quite sure that we’re really far away from machine-baby-carrying.
so you would still need a person to carry the egg around, and currently, that’s actually the bigger problem (at least legally).
