I have looked for SO long, I’ve tried every icon pack on f-droid, I’ve looked through the play store multiple times (either they were ugly or collected all of my precious data 🥹), I’ve even tried to make my own icon pack with renkin but it barely works (I’m not interested in fixing it) SO I just need some icon packs to look through

also I’m pretty picky, and I want either funny/kinda cursed or something that isn’t flat design and monochrome

moments that make you think, things sure could suck even harder if I wasn’t such a nerd

So last night my firewall decided to say F you Reann and stopped working for no apparent reason. I called my ISP to see if it was anything on their end but it was a big nope. It was rather late at night and I do not have computers with monitors at my place so I thought I was SOL. I was frustrated that I could not do anything because I had the bright idea of deleting one of my two static IPs out of the router and than reboot it. I thought to calm my frustrations I would play some games on my ipad, and holly poop am I ever not used to all the ads in mobile games. Luckily my youtube ad blocking does not require anything else on my LAN so I put on some videos and went to bed. In the morning I remembered I had a ethernet to USB adapter and a USB A to c adapter so I would be able to fix it that way. Don’t know how many times I needed to fix the firewall because I broke the internet trying to fix my boo boos and a few times the firewall just said F you Reann I am not putting out. But it is now fixed and I can enjoy my moble games and web browsing mostly ad free!

So I had no pihole action on my LAN.

Like seriously how do people hand how many ads are shoved at you when you are using your devices?

I was on DuckDuckGo this morning trying to fix things and wow the ads, really made me miss searXNG.

Luckily I do not get spam, I spin up a new address for everything so I did not get those ads at least.

Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos said on Tuesday it was suspending operations at three chemical plants ​in Hull, UK, blaming high European gas ‌prices that have made production too expensive.

The three plants employ almost 4,000 people and makes chemicals used in medicines, clothing, cosmetics, detergents, building ​materials and explosives, the company said.

The latest update to Calibre, the popular open-source ebook manager, features an AI-powered writing game.

Calibre v9.15’s “Create Your Own Adventure” mode, per the release notes, lets you build a fictional world and hand control of it to an AI who will manage it in real time based on your responses. A bit like old text-based RPGs, I guess.

The changelog notes, with obvious understatement, that the feature is “a little different” from Calibre’s usual fare, adding it began as a way for developers to test the tool’s AI backend before developing into “something fun to use”. Like all AI features in Calibre, it’s completely optional as it relies on you use adding an API key for a compatible LLM. To try it, go to Preferences > Toolbars and add the “Create your own Adventure” button to a toolbar. Click this to open a setup wizard.

This isn’t the first puzzling AI feature the Calibre has gained. Last month it added hooks to generate ebook covers using AI prompts and preset styles (a noir Wuthering Heights; a pulp sci-fi Barbara Cartland novel, and so on).

Calibre users are, largely, people who like reading books – most with a long backlog of titles they’re not getting through1. Folks who like using LLMs to generate fiction likely have no need for an ebook manager, and vice versa.

I do wonder if Calibre ought to focus on adding AI features that help, rather than distract: letting users sort ebooks, fix metadata or generate “playlists” of what read next based on a users’ library and tastes.

This update also ships with improvements that don’t cause a collective head scratch.

The Highlights panel in the ebook viewer lets you select multiple highlights and right-click them to change the style, and if a highlight has notes, you can see that note in a hover tooltip when you mouse over it (this behaviour can be disabled).

More customisations are present. A button can be added to the sidebar to change between saved window sizes, and in the cover grid you can now choose which corner of book emblems appear via Preferences > Look & Feel > Cover grid > Layout.

Plenty of bugs were fixed, including issues with Read Aloud stopping at large images, a spellcheck quirk that overlooked words with a single apostrophe and Calibre not starting for users in Alberta Canada after its recent timezone change. Where to get Calibre

Calibre is free, open-source software for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Download Calibre from the official website – on Linux, Calibre is installed and updated via a command-line script that will download a binary, unpack it to a system folder and create the various .desktop shortcuts needed to find and open it in app menus, etc.

Alternatively, you can get Calibre on Flathub, although it is an unverified build.
